This class is for the complete beginner OR those who wish to solidify their understanding of the fish skin tanning process using tannins.

Join in from anywhere in the world and learn the beautiful, simple process of transforming raw fish skins into a supple, durable leather. This strong textile can be used to make clothing, wallets, footwear, earrings, art and anything you would use leather for.

In this TWO PART online class, we will explore the foundations of tanning using supplies you will find around your home. You will know everything you need to know to make your own beautiful fish leather!

Intermediate level tanners will deepen their understanding of the process and perhaps learn some new techniques. You will make a rich brown supple leather from this class.

You are encouraged to attend live if possible, and to work along side me in order to get the most out of the class.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NOTE: This class is TWO sessions and will be held virtually on Zoom. You will receive a link after you register. The classes are recorded and sent out afterwards in case you miss the class.
If you are new to Zoom, find out more here.
A supply list will be emailed within 48 hours after registration. PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE ADDED JANEYSEA@GMAIL.COM TO YOUR SAFE EMAIL LIST. I cannot be held responsible for emails that end up in your spam folder.
BIPOC folx, if accessibility is an issue, please contact me to inquire about scholarship opportunities. There are some available!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Registration Fees are in CANADIAN FUNDS and are offered on a SLIDING SCALE for the two part class:

Please pay what you are actually able to afford and be mindful that if you purchase a price at the lowest end of the scale when you can truthfully afford the higher ticket prices, you are limiting access to those who truly need the gift of financial flexibility. Teaching is also my sole income and livelihood. Thank you for supporting the work I do!

*US folx, please keep in mind that you are paying much less than the listed price as the exchange rate is in your favour.*

Choose to pay ONE of the amounts in the drop down pricing menu. There are a set number of spaces available for each price point.

Fees are based on Alexis J. Cunningfolk’s The Sliding Scale: A Tool of Economic Justice.

The sliding scale is a tool that allows for a product or service to be obtained at multiple price points based on the circumstances of the purchaser. This method allows folks who would most likely be priced out of something to have the chance to take part in it. It also seeks to address the systemic inequalities of class in our culture.

Read more about it here to determine where you fit on the scale.
