Hawaii Fish Leather Workshop
In the fall of 2023, Conservation International - Hawaii invited Janey to teach 2 x week long workshops incorporating fish skin tanning and natural dyeing with a specific focus on utilizing the skins and parts of invasive fish such as ta’ape, to’au, Nile tilapia and roi. This short video captures some of the workshop in Hilo.

Museum of Vancouver Exhibit: That Which Sustains Us
I am honoured and excited to be featured in a very short documentary about my work with fish leather in an upcoming exhibit at Museum of Vancouver called That Which Sustains Us. My work is being highlighted alongside Zoe McDonell, a mushroom dyer extraordinaire. So much gratitude to Sharon Fortney, the curator of the exhibition, which explores human relationships with the natural world and traditional ecological knowledge connected to our forests.
Hakai Magazine: The Art of Turning Fish Into Leather
Read about my fish leather journey alongside my dear friend Tracy Williams. Also featured are many other fish tanners doing wonderful work. Read or listen to the article and enjoy!
